MurthyDotCom : I-485 Reopened and Approved Based on Paroled Entry (1183 words)
The basic rule for filing an I-485 is that one must be maintaining lawful nonimmigrant status at the time the I-485 is filed.
Thus, the second I-485 was filed while in a lawful status, though it was not the maintenance of lawful nonimmigrant status, which is most typical.
Motions to Reopen I-485 denials must be filed within 30 days (or 33 days if the notice is mailed) of the date of the denial.
NCRoads.com: I-485 (1026 words)
I-485 construction started in the summer of 1989 near the intersection of N.C. and former U.S. 521 (that's Pineville-Matthews Road and Polk Street/South Boulevard, respectively) in Pineville.
The road predates I-485 by many years, but for several years in the mid-1990s, it was closed in preparation for an upgrade to I-485.
In January 2001, the state announced some good news for 485: it was now planning to speed up construction of 485, so that the entire freeway could be finished by 2010, three years ahead of the 1998 schedule.
