548 is NOT an initial digital channel, it is I believe 3rd or 4th carrier 800 MHZ CDMA.
The individual that stated 548 is a IPC was correct (cgartly) 548 is a IPC on CDMA 3rd carrier.
I have been told that there are only 3 carriers on the tower here, f1, f2, and f3, but it could be that you are bounced to a higher channel when whatever channels *are* in use are full.
PWD 548 - McLeans Island Railway (385 words)
During the Festival weekend itself PWD 548 did not make any runs up the Weka Pass Railway, instead just operating in Glenmark Station Yard.
With this tramway closed down the locomotive was moved to the town of Hokitika and placed in a local park.
548 is back at the McLean's Island Railway, where it is now back in use after an overhaul.
