 | On July 22nd, 1916 a charter was granted to local 589 by the United Association of Journeyman Plumbers, Gasfitters, Steamfitters and Steamfitter Helpers of the United States. |
| Local 589 was one of twelve original chartered members of the Association. |
| Local 589 has come a long way from 1916, with the addition of their own office building, fully funded pensions, vacation pay, an annuity fund and some of the best working conditions in the country, the members of local 589 are proud to be part of labors heritage. |
