The 8 mm Mauser cartridge, also know as the 7.92 x 57 JS, was invented in 1903, as an improved version of the 7.92 x 57 cartridge. The bullet is lighter, pointed, and also .323" in diameter instead of .318" and has improved ballistics. The cartridge has less wounding potential because of the pointed tip, but allows for far great range and accuracy. The cartridge was mainly used in Mauser bolt action rifles, most notably is the Mauser 98 bolt action rifle. Mauser is the common name of German arms manufacturer Mauser-Werke Oberndorf Waffensysteme GmbH, as well as the line of bolt action rifles they built for the German armed forces. ...
