Toronto struck back fast and hard, with two Gil "the Thrill" Fenerty TDs, one on a thrilling 61 yard pass from Gilbert Renfroe, and a Dave "Tank" Landry 54 yard fumble return for a TD. Allen would next rush for a TD, and the lead, but Danny Barrett, who would come off the Toronto bench to replace the injured Renfroe, returned the favour, and took back the lead, with his own 25 yard run for a TD. The 2 point convert failed, setting up Jerry Kauric's last minute heroics. In the dying seconds he hit a 49 yard field goal to seal Edmonton's dramatic and exciting victory.
