C 864 - Ferrymead Railway (232 words)
C 864 is the largest Steam locomotive owned by the Canterbury Railway Society, who operate the Ferrymead railway, but by no means the largest to reside or run at Ferrymead.
For many years it was the main operating locomotive on the Railway, but due to higher running costs C 864 has only run on special days and on a few mainline trips, but the loco cannot be used on Toll Rail tracks again until it is re-tyred.
C 864 is now stored awaiting overhaul, which is not expected to begin for some time yet.
