Gija Joseon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (224 words)
Gija Joseon (around 300 BC - 194 BC or 1126 BC - 194 BC) was an ancient kingdom that succeeded Go-Joseon.
According to Samguk Yusa, Go-Joseon was established in 2333 BC.
But Samguk Yusa doesn't provide much detail; and according to Gyuwon Sahwa, a historical record of Danguns and their periods of reign, Go-Joseon was ruled by 43 Danguns for 1195 years.
Tangun. Who is Tangun? What is Tangun? Where is Tangun? Definition of Tangun. Meaning of Tangun. (913 words)
It is often said that Dangun ascended to the throne in 2333 BC, based on the description of the Dongguk Tonggam (1485), but the date differs among historical sources; nevertheless, all of them put it during Yao's reign (traditional dates: 2357 BC-2256 BC).
Since 1988, the national history textbook has explained that Dangun Wanggeom was the ruler's title and that the legend of Dangun reflects historical fact, a move that has since been one-upped in Japan by attempts in 2000 to treat the mythical emperor Jimmu's reign as historical fact in a new textbook [1].
Until 1961, the official South Korean era (for numbering years) was called the Dangi (단기; 檀紀), which began with 2333 BC, the year of the mythical founding of Joseon by Dangun.
