Encyclopedia > A.Q.M. Badruddoza Chowdhury

A.Q.M. Badruddoza Chowdhury (born November 1, 1932 in Munsif Bari, Camilla, Bangladesh) is a politician in Bangladesh. When the Bangladesh Nationalist Party won parliamentary elections in 2001, Chowdhury became foreign minister. Shortly afterward, in November 2001, he became the President of Bangladesh. His political success was over after less than a year, however. He resigned as president at the request of party leaders on June 21, 2002, for disrespecting the party's founder, Ziaur Rahman, by not visiting his grave the previous month, on the anniversary of his death.
