ABX Air Inc. was formed in 1980 by the merger of Airborne Freight Corporation and Midwest Air Charter. Until August 2003, ABX was a wholly owned subsidiary of Airborne Freight Corporation. In 2003, Airborne was purchased by DHL Worldwide Express and ABX Air was spun off as an independent company. Based out of Wilmington, OH, ABX operates more than 100 aircraft including Boeing 767s, Douglas DC-8s, and McDonnell Douglas DC-9s.
