Established by the Arizona Legislature in 1984, Arizona State University West is a four_year branch campus of Arizona State University. Located in northwest Phoenix, Arizona, straddling the Glendale, Arizona city limits, ASU West has 7,100 students and offers 38 degree programs in five colleges.
In addition to the Tempe, Arizona campus, ASU has three other campuses: its West campus was created in 1984 in Phoenix; its Polytechnic campus in 1996 in Mesa; and its newest campus in Downtown Phoenix opens in August 2006.
At his inauguration, President Crow outlined his vision for transforming ASU into a New American University—one that is open and inclusive; that embraces its cultural, socioeconomic, and physical setting; and that promotes use-inspired research.
ASU is currently aspiring to climb from its current third tier status in the rankings published by U.S. News and World Report.
ASUWest was established in 1984 in northwest Phoenix, Arizona and offers degree programs through the Masters level.
Average age of ASUWest students is 28, and 23% are members of underrepresented populations.
ASUWest received its initial accreditation from North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (NCA) in August 1992 and held its first commencement in spring of 1993.
