The U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships is an annual ATP Tour tennis tournament held in Houston, Texas. The event was held at the Westside Tennis Club from 2001-2007. The event will move across town to the River Oaks Country Club in the River Oaks neighborhood. In 2007, after a few years being held on the same red clay used at the French Open, typical of European and Latin American courts, the event was held on Har-Tru, or green clay. As the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships is the last remaining ATP Tour level event held in the United States on clay, it is also currently the only such event that is played on green clay. However, some lower tier tournaments (such as the Challenger events at Bermuda and Forest Hills) are also played on green clay. The tournament currently lacks the prestige of other clay court tournaments held prior to the French, particularly because the field rarely includes the top European or South American contenders for the French Open title.
