Avex is one of the largest independent record labels in the world, since they are not associated with any of the "Big Four".
Avex was Japan's leading dance record company during the nineties, and continues producing recordings today of some of Japan's most famous J-pop singers.
He subsequently signed her to the Avex label, ending her infamous fllisting under SONY Records that had all but destroyed her career.

The 26-year-old diva is regarded as the face of Avex Records, which has ridden on the back of Hamasaki's success to become one of the most powerful players in the huge Japanese music industry.
