Klink was born in Stellendam, and attended MAVO, HAVO and VWO-education. Between 1978 and 1984 he studied sociology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. After his studies he worked for the scientific institute of the CDA (between 1984 and 1992). In 1991 he was promoted to Meester in de Rechten by the University of Leiden. Between 1992 and 1999 he worked at the ministry of Justice. In 1999 he became director of the scientific institute of the CDA. Stellendam () is a town in the Dutch province of South Holland. ...
