ABAQUS is a commercial software package for finite element analysis. It is used widely in academic institutions, probably because of rather inexpensive academic licensing. Its elastomer (rubberlike) material capabilities are supposed to be excellent. It has a good general purpose analysis component, ABAQUS/Standard, and a dynamics component, ABAQUS/Explicit. ABAQUS/CAE and ABAQUS/Viewer are the pre- and post-processors for the finite element models. ABAQUS/CAE and ABAQUS/Viewer use the open-source scripting language Python for programmability. Finite element analysis (FEA) or finite element method (FEM) is a numerical technique for solution of boundary-value problems. ... The term elastomer is often used interchangeably with the term rubber, and is preferred when referring to vulcanisates. ... The following article relates to computer software. ... Python is an interpreted, interactive programming language created by Guido van Rossum in 1990. ...

Zencrack ~ Interface to Abaqus (869 words)
Testing with Abaqus 6.5pr8 (pre-release v8) showed that if these normals are defined AND the virtual crack extensions do not lie in the crack plane at the crack front, the resulting contour integral values may be incorrect.
This issue exists in Abaqus 6.5-1 and is not scheduled for correction in subsequent 6.5 releases.
The default option for extracting contour integral results and nodal displacements from an Abaqus analysis is that the values are taken from the.dat file.
CTC: abaqus (335 words)
Abaqus is a general-purpose, nonlinear finite element analysis package from Hibbitt, Karlsson and Sorensen, Inc. At CTC it can only be run in command mode on a serial node.
Abaqus on the serial batch nodes must be run in command line mode.
Abaqus CAE can be run on the login machines as long as it does not start computationally intensive jobs, which should be run on the batch machines.
