A lesser known but interesting fact is that the world renowned American architect Louis Kahn designed the Abbas Abad Development Plan for the Shah. The plan however, never materialized, due to unknown reasons. Architect Farshid Moussavi also designed a modern theater in 1997 (called The "Azadi Cineplex") for Abbas Abad, which was not received by The Islamic Republic authorities of The Ministry of Culture. Louis Isadore Kahn (February 20, 1901 – March 17, 1974) practised as an architect in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and taught architecture there and at Yale University. ...
