Prof. Abbasali Amid Zanjani, The President of the University of Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran

Prof. Abbasali Amid Zanjani was born in March 10th, 1937 in Zanjan, Iran. He is a full Professor at the Department of Private and Islamic Laws, Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, University of Tehran.

Prof. Abbaali Amid Zanjani is also a high ranking clergy and holds expertise degree in seminaries sciences and a degree of qualification for religious guidance. He has served as a member of Islamic Parliament from Tehran for two terms. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Imam Khomeini International University and Zanjan University of Medical Science and the University of Tehran as well.

 He got his Ph.D. in Islamic Jurisprudence and Laws, from the University Elites, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Iran in 1987. Due to his research achievements (various books and articles) and in accordance with the decree of the Board of Promotion of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, he was promoted to the position of Associate Professor and he became a full professor in 1994. 

As a faculty member of the University of Tehran, he has been teaching many courses at B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degree programs related to Islamic laws such as political jurisprudence, Islam international laws, comparative laws and the Constitution (Generalities and the Constitution of I.R.Iran and basic comparative laws), foundations of general laws in Islam for fifty years. He has published more than 4o books and 70 scientific articles in Iranian scientific journals. He has also participated in 179 local and international conferences as presenter of paper, member of panel and invitee. . Prof. Amid Zanjani has had an active presence in reconsideration of the Constitution in 1989 as the delegate of the Parliament in the Revising Council. He has been the supervisor of more than 140 M.A. and Ph.D. theses and dissertations. He is the founder of the Research Center for Studies and Researches on Islamic Sciences. Prof. Amid Zanjani has contributed in the process of policy making on administrative activities of Cultural Revolution in universities and higher education centers efficiently.

In his twenty sixth year of teaching at the University of Tehran , Prof. Amid Zanjani was appointed as the President of the University in 27 December 2005.
