Shintarō Abe (安倍 晋太郎; Abe Shintarō, April 29, 1924 - May 15, 1991) was a Japanese politician.


He was the son-in-law of Nobusuke Kishi. He became Minister of Agriculture, Minister of trade, and eventually Minister of Foreign Affairs under the government of Yasuhiro Nakasone.


Shinzo Abe is his son.

The ascent of Shinzo Abe to prime minister was prefaced by an election within the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in which Shinzo Abe, Sadakazu Tanigaki and Taro Aso vied for the title of party president.
