The Abgaal are a Somali clan and are part of the Hawiye. They live in the Shabeellaha Dhexe, Galguduud, Banaadir, Mudug and Shabeellaha Hoose regions of southern Somalia. They have played an important role in the capital, Mogadishu, where they are the majority of Hawiye sub-clans. In Mogadishu today, all clans are to be found with the Hiraab tribes, but the Abgaal form the majority.
