Redhotcurry.com - Bollywood Films. Abhimaan (184 words)
Abhimaan has wonderful music by S.D.Burman and all the songs in the film remain great favourites.
Abhimaan explores how the changing economic status of a wife as equal bread-winner affects a marriage and what happens to a couple who have become professional rivals.
The film was made at a time when Jaya Bachchan herself was a much bigger star than her on-screen (and real life) husband, Amitabh Bachchan who, soon after the release of this film, went on to become the most popular Bollywood star ever.
Abhimaan (1973) Movie Review (743 words)
Superb casting and a sensitive director have made Abhimaan one of the enduring gems of popular Hindi cinema.
But no discussion of Abhimaan can be complete without mentioning the fantastic music given by SD Burman, One of his last films, Sachinda entralls with his meet na milere man ka; piya bina or even the evergreen duet, tere mere milan ki yeh raina.
While Abhimaan may not be Hrishida's best, it still has a special place in the hearts of Hindi film goers.
