Parliamentary elections were held in the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia on 4 March 2007; a run-off round was held in seventeen constituencies on 18 March 2007.[1] 189 polling stations have been organized[2] to elect 35 parliament members. 47.25% of about 130,000 registered voters participated in the first round of the elections.[3] Neither Georgia nor EU recognised these elections citing lack of participation of Georgian refugees.[4] Several geo-political entitites in the world have no general international recognition, but they are de facto sovereign states. ... 28 of the 35 elected candidates are supporters of president Bagapsh, while the other 7 are opposition members.[1] 26 of the elected candidates are Abkhazians, three are Russians, three are Armenians, two are Georgians and one is a Turk.[2]
