Abrantes (pron. IPA /ɐ.'βɾɐ̃.tɨʃ/) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 715.0 km² and a total population of 41,560 inhabitants. It’s believed that the city was originally established during the celtic period, although the name Abrantes comes from the latin Aurantes which indicates that the region had gold.
