One day, he again invited his mother to believe in the One God and His Prophet. She answered with some bad words about the Prophet. Abu Huraira went to the Prophet (PBUH) with tears in his eyes. “Why are you crying, Abu Huraira?” asked the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam).
“I always invite my mother to Islam, and she always refuses,” said Abu Huraira. “I asked her again today. But she said some things about you that made me sad. Can you pray to God for her to turn to Islam?”
The Prophet (PBUH)) prayed for Abu Huraira’s mother to accept Islam. When Abu Huraira went home, he found the door closed. He heard the splashing of water. He tried to enter the house, but his mother said, “Wait a minute. Don’t come in yet.” Then she got dressed and said, “You can come in now.”
When Abu Huraira went inside, his mother said, “I declare that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger.”

Then the Messenger of God, peace be on him, passed by and realized that I was hungry and said: "Abu Huraira!" "At your command" I replied and followed him until we entered his house. He found a bowl of milk and asked his family: "From where did you get this?" "Someone sent it to you" they replied. He then said to me: "O Abu Huraira, go to the Ahl as-Suffah and invite them." Muslim view

Muslims have a mixed view of him.

Sunni view

He is one of the major narrators of Hadith, and like all of the Sahabah, he is trustworthy. May be his name was abused by others so that many wrong hadiths under his name occured. It is not imaginable that he invented them as really the Almighty made him an Imam, he even led the prayer at Aicha r. the wife of the prophet s.- funeral. In fact there have been a lot of worse development like the killing of Hussein and the prophet's family, there were many forces using all means to gain power. Since Abu Huraira r. had a great memory , he had well established to be a hadith narrator and the wrongdoers were using his name to fabricate hadiths in his name. In this he was a easy victim as he brought so many hadiths, so one more or less could not have been striking. The enemies of Islam and those seeking for power in this world abused his name and also absuing of other sahaba (narrating hadiths in their names) but especially his name, as he had narrated so many hadiths- and so the enmies of Islam fabricated a lot more wrong hadiths in especially his name.. Among them the hadith that Jesus will come back which obviously came for christ sources or insulting hadiths against the jews like naked Moses or hadiths figuring out god as a human which was the trinity belief. Short especially Abu Huraira name was abused and he had to justify for so many hadiths as he himself did not oversee how many hadiths came from other source under his name. It is sure he was a victim, because first his hadiths are so accurate as concerning prayers, virtues, action in prayers and many other narration. But then there were hadiths about heaven and hell fitting the Christ view, god as human-like and fitting also the caliph's view and sometimes the jew's view. The later Imam Bukharyy and Muslim trapped on this hadiths and put them in their summary as putting them true "sahih" only refering to the witness chain. Obviously the fabricated hadiths which have been put to Abu Huraira have not been selected out and out also in the book. e.g. the fabricated story Moses naked running behind a rock- this could have been Christ sources to insult the jews. Those all hadiths giving god human nature were fabricated to influence the pure Islam. Short the sahabas followers of the Prophet were selected by the Almighty and they did not transgress the truth, they were believers. And Abu Huraira was one of them. Unfortunately those fabricated hadiths (many have been detected as false) many still taken as true like the coming back of Jesus this surely have infiltrated by Christ sources to bring the islam in their direction. Sunni view Abu Huraira as one of the major narrators of Hadith, and like all of sahabas, he is trustworthy. ... This article or section does not cite its references or sources. ... In Islam, the Ṣaḥābah (Arabic: ‎ companions) were the companions of Muhammad. ...

Shia view

Main article: Shi'a view of the Sahaba#Hypocrites

Shi'as hold a very negative view of him, seeing him as an unscrupulous and irreligious serial fabricator of hadiths. They regard reports of his perfect memory as fabricated and falsified. For other views of Sahaba and a short description, see sahaba. ...

Hadith

The following is a non-representative list of some of the hadith related by him:

Defintely the Shia are right in the point of fabricated hadiths but wrong in saying they came from Abu Huraira. They have to understand that the Almighty would not let a betrayer led the prayer at the funeral of the prophet's wife or let a betrayer come so near to the prophet and being one of his followers. If Abu Huraira would be such harm for Islam in his person himself then the Almighty would have warned the prophet through the angels or punish him, not allowing him to spil the religion. Muslims must learn to understand that there are quite many hadiths of Abu Huraira on prayers e.g. which are perfect and then we find narrations which are not fittin the Islam at all, like the narration of god being like human or putting his foot in hell to fill it up etc. all these narrations were told to come from Abu Huraira but deceivers and wrongdoers used his name for many purposes. Bad is that the Imam Bukharyy and Muslim did not recognize it as the analyzed the witness chain only but fabricated hadiths could easily be imitated and being put back to Abu Huraira. he narraretd most of the hadiths and did not himself understand that many sources used his name so people were more astonished about the qty. of hadith, he himself already told many but then together with other sources copying him it became toomcuh. So he started to justify himself not knowing that a disaster was ongoing as his name was used to fabricate so many wrong hadiths bearing in mind he never wrote his narrated hadith and so there could be no control indeed. Abu Hurairah vs. Paul (4475 words)
At the beginning, Abu Huraira is narrating the hadith from the prophet.
The truth was, in any case, that Abu huraira said something of his own and attached some EXTRA words to a hadith narrated (perhaps) spoken by the prophet.
Abu Huraira was a Jew, became muslim on the day of Khaibar which took place one year after the pledge of Hudaibyia, and spent ONLY three years with the prophet.
