It is based in Tufnell Park, North London, and teaches boys and girls aged 11-18; there are many more boys than girls. Most students come from the London boroughs of Camden and Islington. In 2002 the school earned Arts College status under the Specialist School Scheme. Particular areas of strength are Art and Design and Business Studies (both subjects were rated 'excellent' in the most recent OFSTED report). The current Head Teacher is Michael Shew. Over all, attainment of students is average and achievement of students is good.


Though the socio-economic background of the students is average overall, one of the school’s characteristics is the great variety of backgrounds it attracts.
