It is the first National Rail station on the Great Western Main Line out of the terminus at London Paddington. The station is served by local trains operated by First Great Western between London Paddington and Greenford. It is in Travelcard Zone 3. Train services from the station were dramatically slashed in 2004 (much to the disgust of local residents) when First Great Western won the franchise from Thames Trains (Go-Ahead), with no services into London after 22:10, or westward after 22:52. Consequently, passenger numbers have since plummeted, especially during the morning and evening rush hours, with London-bound passengers migrating towards North Acton on the Underground (Central Line) - a five minute walk up the road. There are currently no plans for First Great Western to increase this much reduced service.

Trains run about every half hour in the daytime, with no service on Sundays. On weekdays and Saturdays, trains head into London Paddington at 10 minutes past the hour and 40 minutes past the hour. Trains heading to Greenford leave at 1 minute and 31 minutes past the hour. It is the only station between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport that is not served by the new Heathrow Connect.
