Maris made a big splash on an episode of the Cosby Show playing the girlfriend of a community center director played by Tony Orlando. This was supposed to be a pilot for a series centered on Maris and Orlando, but it was never picked up by the network. She then went on to play Nurse Gina Cuevas on Nurses for its entire three season run. Most recently Maris became known for playing Captain Erika Hernandez on Star Trek: Enterprise.
