Resident Evil 2 Ada made her first appearance in Resident Evil 2, serving as the partner character to Leon S. Kennedy and as a playable character during certain sections. Under the guise of an ordinary citizen, she requests Leon's aid, claiming to be looking for her missing boyfriend John. She learns that John died during Resident Evil and attempts to escape the city with Leon. She develops romantic feelings for him, but it is later revealed that Ada is actually a spy for an unnamed organization, sent to retrieve the G-Virus sample. She does not escape with Leon and is presumed dead at the end of the game. Her on-screen death differs depending on the order in which Leon's half of the game is played. In the Leon A scenario, she confronts Leon before being shot by Annette Birkin and appears to fall to her death from a catwalk. In the Leon B scenario, she confronts the Tyrant, before being mortally wounded and dying, but not before sharing a kiss with Leon after admitting her love for him. Despite her apparent death, she returns to help Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield near the end of the second scenario by providing them with a rocket launcher needed to destroy the Tyrant. Ada is also a fully playable character in the "Extreme Battle" minigame added to later versions of the game. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles Ada Wong, injured but alive in Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Ada's story was continued in Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, where she was a playable character in the "Death's Door" scenario.[5] This story had never been portrayed in the series before, and covered Ada's mission to bring the G-Virus sample back to Wesker after having failed to obtain it in Resident Evil 2.[6] Although injured during the events of Resident Evil 2, Ada survived her encounter with the T-103 Tyrant, and was able to retrieve a tissue sample from the dead body of the mutated William Birkin. After tossing Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield a rocket launcher, Ada returns to the surface, at which point the gameplay begins. She attempts to rendezvous with a contact, but finds him already dead. Wesker then contacts her and informs her that she has failed, and that her rescuing Leon will have consequences for their organization. Ada shows Wesker the tissue sample, at which point he informs her that Raccoon City is about to be destroyed. He tells her where to retrieve a grapple gun, saving her life with the information. Ada ultimately reaches the roof and defeats another Tyrant, then uses the grapple gun to board a helicopter being used to transport the Red Queen data core, along with Sergei Vladimir and an unnamed Umbrella official. Resident Evil 4 Ada returned in Resident Evil 4. Ada assists Leon on his mission to rescue Ashley Graham. However, her true objective is to retrieve a Master Plaga sample, eventually fulfilling this mission. While not playable in the main game, Ada is the protagonist in the minigame Assignment Ada, which depicts Ada retrieving the sample for Wesker. Another minigame, The Mercenaries, features Ada as one of five playable characters. When Capcom ported the game to the PlayStation 2, a third minigame titled Separate Ways was added. This depicts Ada's actions during the main storyline, featuring new plot revelations. Separate Ways is supplemented by the five-part Ada's Report, in which Ada reveals several secrets; including how she supplies Wesker with "a different present" instead of the Plagas sample that she retrieves in the game and that she is actually working for another organization against Wesker's efforts. It is also revealed that Ada was dispatched alongside Jack Krauser by Wesker, but she eventually kills him in Separate Ways.
