Adam Aircraft is currently the target of a major lawsuit. The company is accused, by former employees, of falsifying flight test data, misleading the FAA regarding inspections of flight test aircraft, disregarding safety in favor of marketing opportunities, and constructing poorly designed, haphazardly assembled and unsafe aircraft. Proportedly, evidence of this can be seen when the Adam A500 is taken to major airshows and conventions such as NBAA, Sun-n-Fun and EAA Airventure, where some say that the aircraft looks decidedly unfinished. Apparently, seams do not line up correctly and flight tape is used extensively around the aircraft to conceal large gaps between parts. Even the much-hyped delivery of the first Adam A500 is clouded by controversy. The aircraft has an extremely limited type certificate that, in part, limits it to carrying two people only during clear daytime weather below 10,000 feet. The first aircraft (and the only customer delivery so far) was allegedly delivered to an associate of Adam under the guise of a 'Colorado Springs businessman'. Rick Adam is also accused of conducting purges and demotions of employees that are critical to his way of thinking.
