Powell programmed the entire site, created most of the original activities and games, and acted as head programmer and creative lead. Under Powell's management, Neopets went from nothing to over 140 million accounts and 5 billion pageviews per month.[2] Adam is often affiliated with asparagus, especially when covered in cheese.
Trivia - Powell's Neopets account is borovan,[3] which is taken from a late-80s sketch on British Saturday morning TV featuring the comedians Trevor and Simon.
- He is occasionally called Number Six, a nickname taken from the 60s show The Prisoner.
- There is also an avatar related to him, to get this you must have exactly the same amount of Neopoints as his account "borovan", viewable at the Neopets about us page.[4]
- Powell has five pets on Neopets, while other users can only have the limit of 4.
- References to Powell's craving for asparagus exist throughout the Neopets website. For an example, when one searches "asparagus" on the Neopets site, the phrase, "You can't have it, it's all MINE!", accompanied by a picture of Adam will appear.
- He is also claimed to be a former member of MENSA with an IQ of 174.[citation needed]
- Powell is mentioned in the hall of fame at his secondary school, Collingwood College, Surrey,[5] although he had a self-described "spectacular failure at university."[6]
- Powell has two cats called Sarah and Chani, both were strays that he and Donna adopted during their stay in the US.
- Powell is also a big fan of Guitar Hero.
- Powell (along with Chris Mellish) wrote a popular ROM2.4-based MUD "DarkHeart" while at Nottingham University, subsequently getting into trouble for running it on the University's main server. The MUD closed in 1999 after a disagreement between Powell and Mellish.
