Adil Shah Afshar (? - 1748) was Shah of Persia from 1747 until 1748. Subsequent to Nadir's assassination in Gulnabad, Ali Khan, Nadir's nephew declared himself Adil Shah ("righteous king"), and shah of Persia. He slew Reza Gholi Mirza and Emam Gholi Mirza, children and heirs to the throne of Nadir, as well as all his other descendents, save Shahrokh who was only 14 at the time. Adil shah's reign came to an end in September 29 of 1748 having been in the power for less than a year. As a result of a coup d'etat by his own brother Ebrahim, he was deposed. The Adil Shahis were originally provincial rulers of the Bahmani Sultanate, but with the breakup of the Bahmani state after 1518, Ismail Adil Shah established an independent sultanate, one of the five Deccan sultanates that were the successors to the Bahmani Sultanate.
Yusuf Adil Shah was the son of Murad II, the Ottoman Emperor.
Ismail Adil Shah thus became the king of Bijapur, which till then was a province of Bahamani kingdom.
