In Indian and Hindu mythology, Sesha is a naga (serpent). His massive form floats coiled in space, (alternative; on the universal ocean), to form the bed on which Vishnu lies. He is one of the primal beings of creation, and is closely associated with Vishnu.
Balarama, elder brother of Krishna, is sometimes said to be an incarnation of Sesha.
According to the Mahabharata (Adiparva), his father was Kasyapa and his mother Kadru.
In one of the legends, it is said that Lord Vishnu was seated on Adishesha, the Lord of serpents as His couch, watching the enchanting dance of Lord Shiva.
Adishesha then began to meditate to ascertain who would be his mother on earth.
Accordingly, Adishesha was born as a human being, as Patanjali, and went to the forest of Tillai.
Nageshwari became a staunch disciple of Lord Shiva and learnt all the shastras and vidyas.
Adishesha, who wanted to help the angels and the Nagas, went to Nageshwari, who was performing Tapas, and begged her to allow him to convert her in to a maid and named her as Jaratkaru.
Adishesha seized the opportunity and said "I will give my sister as charity to you.
