At that time several new species were needed to habitat the universe. Thus one of the ancient bramharishis',Kashyapa was married to Diti and Aditi. Diti was very passionate and lustful. Aditi was very pure and pious. Inspite of Kashyapa's warnings, Diti forced him to have an intercourse during the day, in an uncomfortable environment out of pure desire for the flesh. As a result he gave birth to asuras, who were also passionate, lustful and physically strong. Aditi waited for the right moment, having endured rigourous prayers to the almighty all the while. Then during a peaceful night, admist pleasant conditions she had her union with her husband. As a result she gave birth to devas who were beautiful, intelligent and pious to the almighty.
