The ACD is offered with the expectation that the case will be dismissed once the probation period is over. Because an ACD is not an admission of guilt, it is commonly offered to protesters who were arrested as a way an easy way out for the defendant while deterring the defendant from committing acts that may be disruptive, while the ACD is still active.
