Administrative detention is a military term used in Israel to refer to political prisoners —people held as "criminals" while not actually being charged. Similar treatment by the United States at its Camp X-Ray is called "enemy combatants." Terminology, in its general sense, simply refers to the usage and study of terms —words and compound words generally used in specific contexts. ... A political prisoner may be someone held in prison or otherwise detained, perhaps under house arrest, because their ideas or image are deemed by a government to either challenge or threaten the authority of the state. ...
