Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir (born 4 January, 1949) is the current chief of naval staff of the Pakistan Navy since October 2005. He was commissioned in the Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1970 and saw action in 1971 war. He is one of the pioneers of Naval Aviation and saw it progressing since 1973. He specializes in anti-submarine warfare. He is a graduate of Joint Services Staff College and National Defence College, Islamabad. He took over the command of Pakistan Navy from Admiral Shahid Karimullah, who was due to retire in October 2005.[1] Admiral is the rank, or part of the name of the ranks, of the highest naval officers. ...
