Coordinates: 15°38′N 77°17′E / 15.63, 77.28 Adoni is a municipality, mandal headquarters and commercial town in Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is 140 miles (225 km) from Hyderabad and 307 miles (494 km) from Chennai by rail. It has a population of about 164,000 people (2005). Once a stronghold of the medieval Vijayanagar kingdom, today it has a substantial textile industry. History

There is also a famous hill of lord hanuman.A nice lake site of Ramjal water tank. It is filled with water from Thunga-Badra river, and it is the source of water for entire town. The tank-bund is a nice place to visit and see in the evening, and most important thing of that is the birds which come in the season of winter for a hault in that lake, it looks awesom and many people visit to see the movement of the birds.

Adoni was under the rule of Yadavas in 16th century. At that time Adoni was known as Yadavagiri. Yadavagiri changed into Adavani under the Islamic rule. Later Adavani changed into Adoni. Under British rule Adoni was in Bellary district of Madras presidency. It is known as the grain market of the south.

• HISTORY of "Aasaer-e-Mubarak" in adoni the HOLY prophet MOHAMMED peace be upon him was born on 12th RABI-UL-AWWAL(20.April.571)at MACCA-a-MUKARAMMA in soudi arabia in the dynasty of "BANU HASHAM" in the tribe of khuresh, he is the benefacter of mankind. The whole Muslim world celebrates this day as a festival and belive it as an auspicicious day particularly the sunnies celebrate his birthday as with great honour and respect. (milad-un-nabi) on this auspicious day the muslims get an opportunity to see the holy relics of the prophet. Peace be upon him to which they given top priority. Muslims call this "aasaer-e-mubarak". The companions(sahaba) of the holy prophet have been keeping this with them with utmost respect and never dared to lose them at any cost.

When islam spread in india, the saints installed and rooted love and devotion of the prophet peace be upon him in the hearts of the Muslims. Here also they began to celebrate MILAD-un-NABI. The saints and hajis brought these holy relics of the prophet along with them when they came to india and began to display them to the muslims on the occasion of milad-un-nabi. The "AASAER-e-MUBARAK" of the prophet were brought to adoni, the taluk headquaters of kurnool district and began to show even at the early period of advent of islam. In every year on this occasion of MILAD-un-NABI, the muslims have a glance of "aasaer-e-mubarak". In adoni the oldest aasaer-e-mubarak is known as "BADE AASAER". The speciality of this aasaer is that the number of holy relics(HAIR)

 can be seen. The "BADE AASAER-e-MUBARAK" adoni is registerd on behalf of the government of andhra pradesh and this can be verified by the old records, available not önly in A.P. Wakf board but also from revenue records.
