He was born in 1950 and educated at Douglas High School. He then worked for the Isle of Man Bank from 1968 until his election in 2001 as MHK for Onchan. He had previously served as a Onchan Commissioner. His interests are motorcycling and walking and he is a regular Marshal in the TT.
