An advance poll (also "advance voting") is held in some elections to allow participation by voters who may not be able to vote on the set election day(s). This may include people who will be out of the polling area during the election period, poll workers, campaign workers, people with medical procedures scheduled for that time, among others. An election is a decision making process whereby people vote for preferred political candidates or parties to act as representatives in government. ... Voting is a method of decision making wherein a group such as a meeting or an electorate attempts to gauge its opinion—usually as a final step following discussions or debates. ... The advance poll is for disabled people, polling officers and electors who have reason to believe it will be difficult for them to exercise their right to vote on polling day, May 20.
As stipulated in the Act, electors wishing to vote in the advance poll must be able to prove their identity after stating their name and address to the deputy returning officer.
To find out the address of their advance polling station, electors are invited to consult the notice of entry they have received recently by mail.
