ITA offers regular engineering undergraduate courses (Bachelor's of Engineering) and graduate programs including master's and doctorate degrees. The last sector resulted from a close association with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology scholars and that, later on, was engaged in space research, mostly with French institutions, with NASA in the USA, and more recently with China.
Despite the fact that the role of patents as indicators of technological intensity is undeniable, one should not forget a whole range of other broader, perhaps more meaningful indicators - such as the ones adopted by OECD countries, which comprise up to 82 evaluation categories.
Perhaps for the evolution of technological density more meaningful is the technological balance - an indicator describing how much is spent and how much is gained by a given country in its technology international transactions.
