Afonso Augusto Moreira Pena at AllExperts (293 words)
Afonso Augusto Moreira Pena (Santa Bárbara, November 30, 1847 – Rio de Janeiro, June 14, 1909) was a Brazilian politician, president between 1906 and 1909.
Afonso Pena was the first Brazilian president to advocate intervening in the coffee economy.
The reorganization of the Brazilian army was done by Hermes Rodrigues da Fonseca during the Pena administration.

The spine of the city is the broad Avenida Afonso Pena, with the Rodoviária at its northern end, in the heart of the downtown area.
Just down from the Rodoviária along Avenida Afonso Pena is the obelisk in the Praça Sete, the middle of the hotel and financial district and the city’s busiest part; a few blocks further down Afonso Pena are the trees and shade of the Parque Municipal.
Afonso Pena, this “bakery” serves excellent light meals (salads, pasta, soups and sandwiches), wonderful cakes and what is probably the best bread anywhere in Brazil.
