Plot

Nick and Nora return to their home in San Francisco where the murder victim and suspects are members of Nora's high-society family. The Charleses are sucked into another murder case via Nora's cousin Selma Landis, whose husband Robert has vanished. He has been conducting an affair with nightclub thrush Polly and is also blackmailing gangster Dancer. The solution in this film is perhaps the most surprising out of all the movies: the character played by James Stewart turns out to be the maniacal murderer.
