Agunnaryd is a small, quiet village and a parish in Ljungby Municipality, Småland, southern Sweden, 20 km east of Ljungby. It is chiefly associated with the industrialist Ingvar Kamprad who founded IKEA (the A of which stands for Agunnaryd). It has about 700 inhabitants, one school, a kindergarden, a small cooperative supermarket named 'Mat öppet', and four football teams. The little village has its own newspapper/newsletter, Kolbulletinen, that is mailed to inhabitants once a month. The close-by lake of Agunnarydsjön, located ca. 300 meters from the village-church, is a haven for fishing and swimming. The lake is part of the Helge Å river system, extending further down into the lake of Möckeln, south of Agunnaryd. In the vicinity of Agunnaryd, there are plenty of opportunities to experience Swedish nature, e.g. 12 000 acres of forest, ideally suited for hiking.
