"Ain't That Peculiar" was a 1965 hit single for American soul music legend Marvin Gaye. Written by Marvin Tauplin and Smokey Robinson and featuring The Andantes in the background, this song became one of Gaye's signature tunes in the 1960s and probably his most famous of songs in the mid-1960s before "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" made him a superstar in 1968/1969. The song required finger snaps and gave Gaye a sophisticated soul lover man image while the lyrics depicted a tormented soul that was as true about Gaye as the song detailed. Following "I ´ll Be Doggone" from April of 1965 the song also peaked at #8 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart as well as #1 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart in November of 1965 becoming his second million seller .
