Plot

The movie revolves around the plan of a group of Russian Nationalists to hijack the presidential aircraft (Air Force One) and use the President, his family and other hostages as bargaining chips in the terrorists' demand for the release of their comrade, an imprisoned general who they believe can restore Russia to glory. Nationalism is an ideology which holds that the nation is a fundamental unit of human social life, and makes certain political claims based on that belief, above all the claim that the nation is the only legitimate basis for the state, and that each nation is entitled to its own... Air Force One is a 1997 action movie starring Harrison Ford as the President of the United States, and directed by Wolfgang Petersen.
The movie revolves around the plan of a group of Russian Nationalists to hijack the presidential aircraft (Air Force One) and use the President, his family and other hostages as bargaining chips in the terrorists' demand for the release of their comrade, an imprisoned general who they believe can restore Russia to glory.
"Air Force One" is actually the call sign of any airplane in which the President rides (in fact the rescue plane at the end changes its call sign to Air Force One, signaling to the cabinet in Washington that the President is safely on board).

One of the most dramatic episodes aboard Air Force One happened on September 11, 2001, when it flew President George W. Bush from Sarasota, Florida, where he was interrupted at an education event because of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.
Air Force One is a prominent symbol of the presidency and its power; after the White House, it is probably the most recognized Presidential institution.
