Air Education and Training Command (AETC) (246 words)
Air Education and Training Command is a direct descendant of the Army Air Forces Training Command (AAFTC).
Flying Training Air Force was formed as a subcommand of ATC in May 1951 and another subcommand, Technical Training Air Force, was formed in July of the same year.
ATC expanded to control forty-three bases in 1953, but by 1958 it had been reduced to twenty-five bases and again centralized, absorbing the three subcommands into the reorganized Command Headquarters at Randolph AFB, Texas.
