Georgian Airways was formed in November 1999 as the result of the merger of two Georgianair companies, Airzena and Air Georgia, with the carrier being named Airzena Georgian Airlines.
Headquartered in Tbilisi, the newly-formed Airzena Georgian Airlines was a private company, one of the largest in Georgia.
Georgian Airways offers regularly scheduled air service from its Tbilisi hub to Amsterdam, Athens, Frankfurt, Kyiv, Moscow, Paris, Prague, Tel Aviv and Vienna.
It is a vacation spot undiscovered by the West that is in need of development both in terms of infrastructure, such as road, railroad, electricity, water supply and wastewater treatment, and in terms of tourism-related activities, such as hotels, restaurants, sport facilities.
The Georgian flag carrier, AirZenaGeorgian Airlines, and several private airlines serve domestic and international routes.
The Georgian government plans to announce an international tender on long-term lease contracts for operation of port facilities.
