Aircraft Maintenance is the technology related to the actions required to maintain (or improve) the airworthiness and the designed-in reliability of an aircraft and its systems, subsystems, and components throughout the life-cycle of the aircraft. By the mid 20th century humans had achieved a level of thinking mastery sufficient to leave the surface of the planet for the first time and explore space. ... Airworthiness is a term used to dictate whether a craft is worthy of flight. ... An Airbus A380, currently the worlds largest passenger airliner An aircraft is any vehicle or craft capable of atmospheric flight. ...
These actions include but are not limited to:
Development of the aircraft maintenance program according to the aircraft/engine/component manufacturer
Monitoring/control/implementation of airworthiness directives issued by the aviation regulatory authorities for the specific type of aircraft
Monitoring/control/implementation of service bulletins issued by the manufacturer of the specific type of aircraft/engine/component for its improvement
Performance of any one or combination of overhaul, repair, inspection, replacement, modification or defect rectification of an aircraft or component in accordance with the aircraft maintenance program and/or the manufacturers' prepared maintenance data
Conducting required periodic inspections based on calendar time, or time in service (for example annually, or every 100 operating hours), or flight/landing cycles.
AircraftMaintenance Supervisors are responsible for managing aircraft configuration, including daily aircraft servicing, weapons loading, launch, recovery and repair.
AircraftMaintenance Supervisors also perform periodic aircraftmaintenance inspections and organize flightline safety and foreign object damage (FOD) prevention programs, helping them maintain overall aircraft fleet health and ensure aircraft availability to execute mission requirements.
In addition, the AircraftMaintenance Supervisor coordinates key core logistics requirements supporting aircraftmaintenance operations, and establishes support requirements for supply requisition, repair cycle, delivery, combat support, ground and aerial port transportation, base support plans and munitions requirements.
