Akaska is a town located in Walworth County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 31.

Geography

Akaska is located at 45°19'55" North, 100°7'11" West (45.331844, _100.119717)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 31 people, 16 households, and 10 families residing in the town. The population density is 17.1/km² (44.1/mi²). There are 188 housing units at an average density of 103.7/km² (267.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 90.32% White, 0.00% African American, 9.68% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 16 households out of which 12.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% are non-families. 37.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.94 and the average family size is 2.40.
