Akhtaruzzaman Elias (Bangla: আখতারুজ্জামান ইলিয়াস) was a notable Bangladeshi author. Though he wrote only two novels (see Works section), it has been enough for him to be considered by many critics among the pantheon of great Bengali novelists. Khowabnama depicts the pre-partition rural socio-political scenario in Bangladesh while Chilekothar Sepai is a phsychological journey of a man through the turbulent times of people's uprising in the then East Pakistan during 1969. This latter novel also contains what is arguably the most authentic description of life in Puran Dhaka, the old and distinctive part of Dhaka. This article is about the Bengali language. ...
