The Akita Bank, Ltd. (秋田銀行 in Japanese), is a Japanese bank that is headquartered in Akita City, Akita prefecture. While the bank’s core business comes from Akita prefecture, the bank does have several branches outside of the prefecture, notable in Koriyama city Fukushima prefecture. In addition, the bank also operates brnches in Sapporo, Morioka, Sendai, and Tokyo, all outside of AKita prefecture. The bank is also notable in its initial reluctance to establish a wide ATM network, starting one in January, 2003. The current Akita Bank can trace its roots to the establishment of The 48th National Bank in January, 1879. The bank adopted its current form on October 20, 1941 when The 48 Bank (the successor to The 48th National Bank), the Yuzawa Bank, and the Akita Bank merged to form The Akita Bank, Ltd.
