Akor Khel is an Afghan tribe founded by Malik Akor Khan,the great grand father of Khushal Khan Khattak. They are also called Khankhels. Members of the tribe currently live in the Akora, Ameer, Nilab, Adamzi, Shedu and Manduri villages of the Nowshehra District; members of this branch are known as the Akora Chiefs. The Akora Chiefs are considered to be the senior most branch of the tribe. The villages of Jamal Garhi in the Mardan District; Tor Dheri and Jehangira villages in Sawabi District are also a home for the Akorkhels. Akor Khels of Teri, Seni Gumbaat, Lachi, Darmalik and Chakhtoo villages of Kohat and Karrak Districts, belong to the junior brach of the clan. They are known as the Teri Chiefs. The Teri Khani or Chiefship was firmly established when the Khan of Teri, Khwajja Mohammad Khan was knighted and made a Nawab, thus garnering the title of "Nawab Sir Khwajja Muhammad Khan, Knight Commander, Star of India."
